Giuseppe
was born in Manchester and studied Theatre Design at Birmingham Polytechnic
& The Slade School of Fine Art. He was awarded the Painter’s Guild
prize for fine art in 1992 and became a freeman of the Guild in 1999. He received
the Arts Council of Great Britain bursary for Theatre Design in 1994. Designs
include, ‘An Evening with Gary Lineker’, ‘Absurd Person
Singular’, ‘Half a Sixpence’ and ‘Framed’ at
the National Theatre (Cottesloe) Dance tours for Janet Smith and Dancers including
‘Chiaro Scuro’, ‘Touching Zulu’, and ‘Accidental
Collectors’.
He became Artist in Residence and Teacher Fellow at Bretton Hall College in
1995-98 where he helped to develop a new degree in Theatre Design. Giuseppe
is a practising painter and sculptor and also works extensively in the film,
TV and advertising industries.
Emma
was born and brought up in Leeds and studied Theatre Design at Bretton Hall
College. Since graduating in 1998 she has worked extensively as an Assistant
Designer for repertory, West End and Broadway theatre and European opera.
Emma was the recipient of the Young Designers award for ‘King Lear’
(Cambridge Arts Theatre) and co-designed ‘Whose Shoes?’ for The
West Yorkshire Playhouse TIE company. In 1998 she received the BBC ‘Vision’
design Award for costume and began her training in design for television on
‘A Rather English Marriage’ (BBC) ‘Rough Treatment’
(ITV) ‘Inspector Morse – A Remorseful Day’ (ITV) and ‘Hidden
Treasure’ (ITV). In 2001, Emma was Assistant Costume Designer on the
series ‘The Glass’ for ITV.
Giuseppe and Emma began working together in 1999 as the production designers on the film feature "P.O.V." (dir. Lesley Manning) and since 2001 have been concentrating specifically on theatre and devised work. Current work includes, Henry V and A woman Killed with Kindness (Northern Broadsides) and Godspell (Cheltenham Everyman Theatre and tour).
