Buses
by Iain Barton

o Women are like buses
o Relationships are like trips on buses
o Some buses have baggage
o Taxis are like prostitutes
o You wait for one and loads come at once

Bloody Men

Bloody men are like bloody buses –
You wait for about a year
And as soon as one approaches your stop
Two or three others appear.

You look at them flashing their indicators,
Offering you a ride.
You’re trying to read the destinations,
You haven’t much time to decide.

If you make a mistake, there is no turning back.
Jump off, and you’ll stand there and gaze
While the cars and the taxis and lorries go by
And the minutes, the hours, the days.

Wendy Cope

A short film presenting the world of buses as an analogy for women and relationships.

"Women are like buses, you wait ages for one and then loads come along at the same time"

Such is life! This short film considers the different types, sizes and styles of buses. Where should you go to catch the best bus if indeed you wish to catch one. Perhaps self propulsion is the way forward. What kind of journey are you after?

"Catching a bus may be something you may be considering or maybe you're on a journey at the moment or have been in the past.
One thing is clear though at some point in our life we will all give them a go"

Disclaimer - The subject of 'Buses' has been discussed with friends and relatives over many years. During this time the above poem 'Bloody Men' by Wendy Cope was brought to my attention. Although I appreciate Wendy's considered opinion on the subject, I believe that it is the female of the species that have more in common with Buses and that she is, in a word, wrong.
